Oh Baby!

January is a big month for baby planning.  Now that we've moved into the new rental house and made it through the holidays, it's time for us to focus on getting ready for the baby.

Breathing Basics Class
Eric and I took a breathing/birthing class to help inform ourselves about what we're going to be experiencing soon.  It was....interesting.  Our instructor was very funny and did a great job making sure to lighten up the awkward topics that had to be discussed.  We learned about the different stages of labor and various pain medication options (epidural, here I come!).  We also learned a few breathing techniquest, which made us a laugh as we had to practice (yes, we were that couple, but really, some people around us were taking it soooo seriously).  But the class ended with the coaches practicing back massage techniques on us pregnant ladies.  What a great ending!

Putting the Furniture Together
Eric spent one Sunday morning with my brother, Erik, putting together some baby furniture.  They started with the awesome glider and ottomen.  It's quite possibly the world's most comfortable chair right now.  It will come in very handy for feeding and rocking the baby - but I'm already spending time enjoying a comfortable seat around the house that doesn't make my back hurt.  They also put together our crib, which is beautiful.  We just had some more furniture delivered to the house so it'll be exciting to put it all together and arrange the room.

Finding a Pediatrician and Day Care
This has been an interesting research project.  This is definitely one of the times when I'm glad most of our friends already have kids.  I asked for pediatrician recomendations and found out that a number of our friends use the same practice.  Our friends are pretty smart so if they're all happy with the practice, it seems like a logical place for us to start.  We'll give it a try and see if it fits into our needs as well.  (It's Pediatric ASsociates at 16th St. and Northern, by the way).

Day care is a little different story.  We're trying to find one that's close to our house as Eric will be dropping Baby Fagan off in the morning and I'll be picking her up in the afternoons.  There's a shockingly small amount of day care center and home day cares in our area.  We're still in the process of looking but I hope we find something soon.

Maternity Pictures
We took maternity pictures yesterday with Erika Griffin Photography.  She is just awesome (check out her website here).  We had a really good time taking the pictures.  Proofs will be coming our way soon and we can't wait to see how they turned out.  She's also going to be doing out newborn pictures after Baby Fagan arrives.

Pregnancy Complaints
Really, I only have one.  And since I only have one real complaint in this whole process, I figure it deserved it's only little section.  Yes, it's my swollen feet.  Some of you have heard my complaints before but seriously, it's insane.  If you looked at my from the ankles down, you'd think I weighed, like, 500 pounds.  And I hear that after I give birth, they're only going to get worse before they get better.  I don't see how that could possibly be but I guess I'll soon find out.  I promise I'll stop complaining about them soon.

It's amazing to think that in just about 1 month, we'll be parents.  I can't wait to meet our little girl.  There's so much we don't know but I just want her to arrive so we can start figuring it all out.

Long Time, No Post...

I have been neglecting our blog lately.  Considering my last post was before Thanksgiving, there's a lot to update on.  I'll try to keep it short and sweet for all of the topics

Thanksgiving
We spent the day watching football with Eric's family at his mom's house.  And of course, football was followed with an awesome meal of turkey with all the fixings.  We followed that up with a brief stop at the Johnson's household to see my family and watch the final football game of the day.  With the PFFFL (Pedersen/Fagan Family Football League) in full swing, there is always a lot of yelling and swearing at various football players throughout the game.

Fantasy Football
Speaking of fantasy football, we had a pretty good year this time.  Eric ended up in the finals of one of his leagues but unfortuantely lost the game (damn Bears defense!).  But second place isn't horrible when you end up getting your money back.  He also made it to the finals for another one of his leagues and won that game so the money flowed our directions.  I ended up in last place in one of my leagues :( but came in second in the other.  I won a whopping $5 this year but hey, it's better than a sharp stick in the eye!

Christmas
Christmas is always a fun time of year.  We spent a lot of time with family and friends, which was much easier now that we've moved back into town (oh shoot, there's another topic I should mention).  We spoiled each other rotten - Eric's big gift was a flip video camera, while my big gift is a toss up between the massage, the Coach wallet and the Tiffany's gift card.  Our families spoiled us rotten as well.  But that's not the point of the holiday.  We spent most of the day at my parents house, though Eric did take a break to play golf with some close friends.

The Big Move
We moved into a rental house the two weeks before Christmas.  We're back in the neighborhood where we were spending most of our time anyway.  We're just a few minutes away from my parents and my brother.  We're also really close to the neighborhood bar we like to go to (at least now we can actually consider it our neighborhood bar).  It's been great settling into the house and getting organized again.

January has been the month full of baby stuff.  Our due date is coming up fast and we're busy getting ready for it.  But I think I'll save all the baby stuff for another posting.
